Why would a Republican think it is wasteful to feed hungry children during the summer?

Cynthia Davis (R-O’Fallon) asks her public: "Why have meals at home with your loved ones if you can go to the government soup kitchen and get one for free? This could have the effect of breaking apart more families."
She wants soup kitchens shut down and have kids work at McDonald’s so they can also get a free wholesome lunch.
SHE VERY CLEARLY SAID: "Anyone under 18 can be eligible? Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals?
Tip: IF YOU WORK FOR MCDONALD’S, they will feed you for free during your break."

Republicans are very unorganized these days, they will denounce anything that has a hint of an obama support and try and turn the most reasonable things into unimaginable statements
didn’t she say "meals at home"??? Where in the world did you pull McDonalds out of?? your behind?? Don’t you even read your own posts? Homecooked meals are great!!!
So you think it would be better for them to eat at a soup kitchen instead of at home where most families eat.
I guess it could be like going out for lunch.
At least they’re workin for it. Something wrong with working??????????
Another clueless Republican living in the 1950’s.
Mommy’s home in her apron just waiting to serve a nice hot bowl of Chef Boyardee, but Johnny just insists on soup kitchen food. Now mommy is having a nervous breakdown, and the Russians are going to invade any minute.
But, happy ending…! all she has to do is plant some strawberries and all will be well!
It`s my understanding that anything that helps the less fortunate is inflationary and bad for the economy.
Why would a Democrat feel that way either? Look honey, you can not go around judging all people based on ones beliefs, that is called being stereotypical and people will look down on you for that. I’m a Republican who was homeless for two years of my life, I do not change my political views just because I am poor. That is as bad as saying well if you are black you should stand by Obama or electing Oprah as the speaker for all black people. Do you see what I am getting at here? Democrats seem to think that people like Rush Limbaugh speak for all of us when most of us can not stand him, and Dems also try to appoint people to speak publicly for their party but you keep learning that it does not happen. Stand up on your own 2 feet and stop judging an entire group based on what one person from that group feels, thinks, or says.
You don’t understand what she is referring to at all. Don’t jump to conclusions before understanding what people are addressing.
Here’s my favorite part of that article you referenced.
When churches offer a meal, they can serve the individual with a sense of love and caring for those less fortunate. Government cannot match that. Bigger governmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another.
Here’s Arnold’s answer. Not reducing government. Nope, right for the people who can’t vote. See what happens to the mantra "the children" when it comes to their benefits?
— but Schwarzenegger is looking to save every dime he can. He already has proposed eliminating health care for poor children.
Knife cuts both ways.
You totally miss the point, and next time provide the whole quote. She is not saying that families that cannot afford it shouldn’t have it. She is saying that parents that are able to afford to feed their family wouldn’t because they can pawn their kids off on the government rather than take care of the kids themselves. It would create a sort of recreational use of the government programs rather than using it only when necessary, a mindset that plagues many government programs.
Another bleeding heart digging for wallet. You feed em.
