I'm asking local companies for donations prizes. What would you want for a prize? Any ideas of how to ask??

I work at an apartment community and we are having a contest for the residents. It’s been difficult to say the least, getting the residents involved. So, I really wanted to get some ideas for prizes from a bunch of people. Serious please!
Also, we are a bit of a cash strapped property, so any tips for getting the donations I’m going to ask for would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help!

Ask a local coffee house if they will give donations. Often smaller stores in the neighborhood will offer a free meal as a prize to get local residence into their stores.
Also ask restaurants, hair salons etc.
Insteed of dueing donation prizes, just do a block party for all the residents that are involved. You can ask local law inforcement offices to pay a visit along with the fire department coming down with some of the trucks. The kids might beable to walk through them and look at the insides of the trucks. It could be along the lines of the community becoming closer. Do a cook out with the residents, and have games for the kids to play. get cheap prizes for them, AKA dollar stores if they are in your area. like bubbles, coloring books, crayons, all that little stuff. The food, you could ask the residents if they are interested in doing a pot luck, bring a dish to pass, and if cash is avaible for you, you could supply the meat, hot dogs, brats, hamburgers that kinda stuff.
