Good cancer charity or fundraiser for me to donate to?

I’m looking for some good, reputable and unique cancer charities or fundraisers that I can donate to. What I’m really looking for is an event or fundraisers where someone is taking on a difficult personal challenge to raise money or awareness.

This is a cross-country bike ride that a guy named Bob Lee is undertaking. Bob is a 65-year-old cancer survivor and he’s riding 6,500 miles across America to raise awareness and money for cancer research and hospice care. He is also donating a 1/3 of the funds he raises to ALS.
Bob has a great website which includes a daily weblog/blog that he keeps during his ride. This seems like the kind of unique cancer fundraiser you are looking for.

I participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day. It’s a 60 mile walk over three days to raise money for breast cancer research and treatment. You can participate by either walking (which requires a donation of about $2200 that you raise–and it’s actually pretty easy to raise it believe it or not) or you can Crew, which costs $100 and no donation requirement.
They are held in 12 cities throughout the country and since I’m in Arkansas and we don’t have one, I pick a different city each year I participate. I meet great people and help out a worthy cause and am worn out and elated after the weekend–which is kind of the point. It is truly life changing!
Also, alot of travel expenses for volunteer work is tax deductible, so that’s why I don’t mid the travel.

contact your local hospital chemotherapy/radiotherapy department,and see if they can advise,i am doing the race for life in june with my 11yr old daughter,which is basically running 5km to raise money for cancer awareness.
