I read them in the 70’s. There were 5-7 books with brown covers. The 1st book had to do with the abandoned mansion and jewel thieves. Then the series continued with the kids cleaning up the abandoned mansion and there was a charity ball (possibly costumed) there. I believe that an old woman who might have grown up in the house was in attendance, and for some reason missing emeralds sticks out in my mind. I remember there was a library in the house, and there were thick bushes between the kids house and the mansion. I also remember that it took place in a town where there were wharfs. According to march of dimes ovulation calculator, I should ovulate on Dec 5. Would it be best to "try" the few days before or after.
